Diversion en el Agua - 25x25cm - Oleo Sobre Panel
$200
Available at Genoa Bay Gallery

So blessed to live in a place where these are the views you can see any time! Coming from a very Mediterranean city (close to a thousand km East or West to the ocean!), I love living by the sea! I did this plein air painting last May while at the Sidney Boat Show. We were invited by Art Sea to paint during this event. It was lovely day with inspiring views. You can see this painting at Genoa Bay Gallery, I'm excited to share you can see some of my coastal art in this great gallery! Stop by, see the art, walk the quaint docks and have lunch or dinner at the restaurant, the food is delicious!

The Path - 40x30 Oil Painting
The Path - 40x30 - Oil on Exhibition Canvas
El Sendero - 101x76cm - Oleo
SOLD

The Path is a painting I started a couple of years ago and it looked completely different  when I first started. Unfortunately I didn't have the time (or sense of direction I guess) to finish it right then and there and it stayed in the studio turned against the wall for a long time. Then I decided to get it done and the path became so overgrown I could no longer see it. I loved working with colour in this painting! It was very hard at first to let go of parts that I was enjoying in the previous incarnation but I got brave and allowed to painting to take its own course! Below you can see the start of it, it went through many lives and makeovers  before getting to the finished piece you see above. Thank you Janice at Calla Design for finding a home for this painting :)

Just Around the Corner - 8x8 - Oil on Cradled Panel

Last Fall I did this painting of the gorgeous succulents urn outside Calla Design , a design store on Estevan Village that represents my work. It was done Plein air and I really enjoyed both the process and the finished product. It sent me on a quest for more succulents to paint! Now, I am eagerly watching them grow and plan to do a few more paintings with these succulents!

Waiting - 8x10 - Oil on Birch Panel
Esperando - 20x25cm - Oleo
Available

Let’s see if I can get back with the program, it seems I needed a little break from social media!! So we are going back to summer with this post. This one day last August we tried fishing for halibut in a bank in the middle of Queen Charlotte Strait. Actually, let’s correct that: my husband tried fishing, I painted! It was a very quiet morning, the water was very still and we could hear whales in the distance, every now and then we would hear their puffs from them surfacing to breathe. We looked and looked but they were not close enough to see them. It’s was a beautiful day anyway!
This is the painting created that day. I love the colours that happened.... I may have to do a larger version of this one. I called it Waiting as that is what we were doing: Waiting for the whales to get closer, for the fish to bait and for me to finish the painting!!

Evening on the Water - 8x8 - Oil on Canvas
Atardecer en el Agua - 20x20cm - Oleo
Available at South Shore Gallery

As you may know, we spend a lot of time on the water especially in the summer. We get to enjoy weekends or extended times on our sailboat, we typically drop anchor and spend the night in quiet bays. When the activity of the day starts slowing down, the day is over, and everybody gets tucked in for the night, you get to see cosy views like this one. I wonder, are they playing cards inside? Board games, reading? Times like these are usually "unconnected" times, with no or very limited Internet access. That's what we usually do, marathon board games, cards championships that last the whole trip and create good memories. "Evening on the water" is an 8x8, oil on canvas and it's available at South Shore Gallery in Sooke.

Watching The World Go By

Watching the World Go By - 24x24 - Oil on Canvas
Mirando Como Pasa el Mundo - 60x60cm - Oleo
SOLD

"Watching The World Go By” came from a small plein air painting I did about a year ago during a long weekend out on the boat in Portland Island. This is a marine park close to Vancouver Island which is one of our favourite places to go for a short day trip. We just love it there, we have spent many many hours on that island and on its shores. We have take countless of guests from all over and shared its beauty. We actually have “our own beach” 😂 on the island, that’s how we refer to Arbutus Point in our family, sometimes even frown when we get there we see other people!! Ha ha! All ferries between Sidney and Vancouver and other Gulf Islands always go around it which is why you can just sit and ‘Watch the world Go By’.
So glad that both, the plein air and the studio piece, sold at the ‘Oh The Places We’ve Been’ show. This new collector wanted to keep them together so bought both! Thank you Sabrina and Josh, hope you enjoy them for a long time!

I am an artist living in Victoria, BC, Canada. I love to paint the beauty around me, capture moments and memories. I paint because the process gives me immense pleasure and joy. I paint because it allows me to remember places I have been to, moments I have lived. Just like music can in an instant transport you to a different time, my art has the ability to take me back in time and place and put a smile on my face. I paint because it allows me to imagine my next trip or my next walk in the woods. It mean it to be an invitation for you to pause and just simply enjoy the moment. Hope you enjoy my art!
